Guests are welcome to join a ranger led hike which will introduce them to Palmetto Island State Park. Hike will focus on the many plants and animals that call the park home. Hike will also provide information on the facilities and park itself. Guests will meet in the nature center.

Park guests of all ages are welcome to enjoy a fun filled activity in the nature center. Programs will vary each week and will include an activity such as wildlife bingo or arts and crafts. Call the nature center at 337-893-7047 for more information on the program of the week.
Every Sunday in July/August – 2 p.m. -Nature Theater
Come watch a nature video that is both entertaining and educational. Park guests will meet at the nature center for a weekly video on topics such as animal hunts, the wild life of bees, and much more
-Saturday, July 20th and August 17th – 8:00. -Guided Full Moon Hike
All guests are invited to join a park ranger on a night hike. Each month, on the weekend closest to the full moon, come enjoy the excitement of Palmetto Island under moonlight. Grab your flashlight, insect repellent and meet at the nature center at 8:00p.m. Hike will take approximately one hour. Most of the park’s mammals, such as deer, are more active at the park, so who knows what we may run into!
Sunday, August 4th – 10 a.m. Ranger Led Canoe Tour
Come Join a ranger led guided canoe tour through Palmetto Island. Tour will last approximate-ly 2 ½ hours, and include an introductory lesson on paddling, followed by a tour through the park’s three ponds. Guests will also learn about common animals found along the park’s ponds, including the park’s many alligators. The regular canoe fee is waived, but guests must register at the nature center or by calling 337-893-7047.
